Greetings humans. Willing is shelved for the forseeable future. This site will remain, though, because I think it looks pretty. DVDs of Willing are available (head to my homepage to contact me if interested), and I may post the full film here should interest arise. Many thanks to everyone who worked on the project, and best of luck in all your future endeavors!
Wow, it's been a while. The movie is officially completed and mastered, so now I'm trying to send it to as many festivals as I can afford. I cut a trailer which you can view on the Media page. It's really more of a teaser, but I don't want to give too much away. This, along with some other special features, will be available on the DVD, which is currently under construction. Enjoy!
The premiere has come and gone and now I can start sleeping again. By my estimation, it was a great success. The place was packed (at least at the beginning - not everyone can sit through ten student films in a row), and the crowd was very responsive. It's hard to tell if they liked your movie when it's not a comedy, but I had a pretty good feeling about it. Thanks to everyone who made it happen! Just a few tweaks and the film will be fully finalized and I can start working on the DVD.
Many moons later, the film nears completion. Sound design is getting started, and I'm almost finished with all the effects. I need to pick up the pace, because the film premieres two weeks from tomorrow. That's right:
Willing Premiere
Thursday, May 26, 2005
Annie Mae Swift Hall
Northwestern University
Reception at 7 PM
Screening begins at 7:30
Willing should screen at about 10 PM, if all goes well. Hope to see you there, whoever you are!
Willing has a website! As usual, I'm doing everything out of order. I've been doing editing, effects, poster design, and now even a website all at the same time. I guess I just work better this way. It's one of the luxuries of independent production, where you do everything yourself.
Postproduction is proceeding smoothly. The first rough cut is complete, and there's only one big effects sequence left to do. I plan to have picture lock by the second week of March, and the effects should be finished by mid-April. Then Chris, my sound designer, can go nuts (we may do this in 5.1 surround sound--wow!). The premiere will be sometime in late May, once my directing class dukes it out and picks a date.
